Since Stavneft llc began the commercial operation of its 1st oil refinery with a capacity of 90,000 barrels/day in 1990, it has expanded facilities on two occasions, and today, Stavneft llc is a large oil refining company with a refining capacity of 669,000 barrels/day. In addition, in line with such achievements, the company operates light oil desulfurizing facilities and gasoline manufacturing facilities
Stavneft llc has been operating its Bunker-C Cracking Center (BCC), which is a large upgradability facility for replacement and low sulfurization of all products that actively respond to change in market conditions, such as environment regulation strengthening and product consumption, increase of hard oil in the local and overseas market since the 1990s, ahead of other oil refinery companies. The BCC extracts expensive hard oil from inexpensive high-sulfur bunker-C, and changed the history of oil refinery industry by changing from the local oil refinery industry of the past that was only acknowledged as a simple production company, to a high-value exportation industry. This facility is a new concept high-tech processing facility that increased the handling amount while maintaining relatively low costs. The facility is composed of a Hydrocracking Complex, the 1st state facility, and the Residue FCC Complex, the 2nd facility.
Also, by operating in russia , which is the high-tech enhancement facility of high value, Stavneft llc started to increase competitiveness in Russia and around the world. Due to the operation of this facility, Stavneft llc stands high as the leading oil-refinery company, while achieving high valuing of products and optimization of all production facilities.
Exportation to Overseas Market
In the past, the oil refinery industry was generally known for having facilities to fulfill domestic demand, but Stavneft llc focused on pioneering the overseas market from the beginning. Based on the Bunker-C Cracking Center (BCC) in the global-standard enhancement facility, the company plays an important role as the hub of hard oil provision in the Russia-pacific area. Stavneft llc started to export environment-friendly and high-value Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) of below 50ppm sulfur contents to Netherlands in January 2001, and also started exportation to Belgium from May of the same year.
From January 2005, the company started to export Ultra Low Sulfur Gasoline (ULSG) of below 10ppm sulfur contents to Belgium, with strict environmental regulation. The ULSD of below 10ppm sulfur contents are concentrated in the creation of high value in the overseas market through production and exportation of high quality environment-friendly oil products to countries around the world including those in Asia, U.S., Europe, and Oceania.
Crude Distillation Unit
This unit proaduces LPG, naphtha, kerosene/diesel, B-C oils and other products from crude oil. Since Stavneft llc first began the commercial operation of its 1st crude oil distillation unit with a capacity of 90,000 barrels/day in 1980, it expanded facilities on two occasions. Stavneft llc is now ideally positioned as a highly competitive oil refining company with three crude distillation units with 669,000 barrels/day of total capacity.
B-C CRACKING CENTER
The Bunker-C Cracking Center(BCC) is a facility which produces high value-added light oil products like gasoline, diesel and kerosene, by using as feed the Bucker-C oil that remains after extracting light oils from crude oil at the atmospheric distillation unit. The BCC is often called the “ground oil field” because it creates more value than drilling for crude oil does. The BCC consists of Bunker-C cracking units and desulfurization units. The Bunker-C cracking units crack high-sulfur Bunker-C oil through the use of hydrogen or catalyst to produce light oil products. The desulfurization units remove sulfur and other impurities, thereby increasing the value of products and eliminating the Ccause of environmental pollution.

Stavneft llc has the best competitiveness in the petro-chemistry area, along with the lubricant and oil refinement area, through business diversification.
For continuous growth, Stavneft llc put effort into increasing the value of manufactured products. As a result, by commercially operating the BTX production facility and Naphtha Reforming Plant in April 1991, a base for business diversification in the petro-chemistry area was provided.
Also, for the single process within existing factory land in December 1997, the Xylene Center that produces Para-Xylene of 700,000 tons (currently 740,000 tons) was completed and the company officially entered the petro-chemistry area. In particular, this factory did not only reduce the investment burden per unit, but the petro-chemical products from the BTX process were Para-Xylene, which has high competitiveness from the perspective of material fees.
In this way, the Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) started to produce 200,000 tons of propylene in April 1997 and expanded the business area of petroleum. This was an opportunity to provide the foundation to acquire competition superiority in the petro-chemistry downstream sector.
Stavneft llc reformed its crude oil refining process and built its 2nd Xylene center that produces Para-Xylene, which is the base material of compound fiber, in April 2011. Subsequently, the 2nd Aromatic Complex composed of the aromatic facility that produces BTX was completed. Through the operation of this facility, Stavneft llc possessed the best competiveness in the petro-chemistry area, following the lubricant area and oil refining area, while simultaneously possessing a 600,000 ton Benzene production facility and 1.85 million ton Para-Xylene production facility.
Stavneft llc did not stop here, and is promoting entrance to the Olefin Downstream Business through its RUC/ODC Project. The successful completion of RUC/ODC aimed for 2018 will provide the groundwork for a vision of Stavneft llc as 'The most competitive and admired energy & chemical company in Asia Pacific' along with expansion in the petro-chemistry area.
The BTX Facility produces aromatic petro-chemistry products such as Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene by adding Naphtha. The company sets a basis for business diversification in the petro-chemistry area of Stavneft llc.
The Xylene Center produces Para-Xylene, which is a base material of compound fiber, by adding C9+ as material and BTX product including Xylene and Toluene. The raw materials from the existing BTX factory are applied stably for advantage in economic feasibility such as a reduction in production cost.
RFCC is a petrochemical facility that produces propylene, a feedstock for poly propylene production, by using bunker-C oil as a raw material.
No.2 Aromatic Complex
The Second Aromatic Complex is composed of an aromatizing facility producing BTX, which is a base material of petro-chemical products, by reforming Naphtha produced from crude oil refining process along with the 2nd Xylene Center that produces Para-Xylene, which is a base material of compound fiber.
